Caregiver (Australia)

Support for students under 18 years studying in Australia and New Zealand

If you plan to study at one of our schools in Australia or New Zealand and you are under the age of 18, it is recommended for your safety and well-being that you have a Caregiver or a Guardian

Who can be a Caregiver?

It is a legal requirement of government student visa regulations that you either:

  • live in Australia/New Zealand with your parent or legal custodian, or
  • live in Australia/New Zealand with a relative over 21 years old nominated by your parent or guardian, or
  • have 'care arrangements' that have been approved by Embassy English (i.e. have a 'Caregiver')

Embassy English Approved Caregivers

Embassy English has arrangements with a number of organizations who provide Caregiver services.

They are responsible for - meeting you at your accommodation when you arrive, helping you to open a bank account, explaining the public transport system and will talk with you weekly. They will also meet with you every fortnight and provide a regular report to your parents.

If you require one of these organizations, please contact them directly using the details below.

Under 18s Welfare and Accommodation Policy

Please contact the Deputy Principal at your campus for information about this policy

Please note: The Caregiver service should be booked by agent or student directly. Price is subject to individual company rate, but is approximately approximately AU$45-55 per week. (average in 2014)
